“Salt & Light in Education”
A supplement to the recent CViE blog, “Preparing for Pride Month“
The Christian Institute has produced “Salt & Light in Education”, a four-part video series to answer the question, “RSE, ‘Pride’ and trans ideology – What’s going on in schools?” These followed on from a nationwide series of CI-sponsored meetings of the same name.
The need for these meetings arose from the fact that children are being exposed to harmful ideologies in schools and being taught what is contrary to Christian belief, leaving parents unsure how to respond. As the Institute declares, “They want to respond but don’t know how”.
As a supplement to the recent CViE blog, “Preparing for Pride Month“, we would draw your attention to these short videos – available here – that are organized as follows:
‘Part 1: The LGBT movement & God’s Word‘
The series begins by mapping the Christian worldview from creation and the fall, to redemption and new creation.
‘Part 2: RSE, Pride & trans ideology in schools‘
What’s going in schools? We look at the controversial topics and ideologies being pushed in schools in England, including in Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), transgender ideology and ‘Pride’ celebrations.
‘Part 3: Parents as salt and light in education‘
Parents can influence schools for good. They have a God-given responsibility for their children and certain legal rights over how schools educate them. We consider how parents can engage with schools in constructive ways.
‘Part 4: Churches as salt and light in education‘
Churches have plenty of opportunities to engage with schools through RE, collective worship and RSE. We consider how churches can equip young people fir life in 21st century Britain.
At one of these Christian Institute meetings, it was pointed out that Jesus quoted, Deuteronomy 6:5, And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might – and then, if we go on to read – verses 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up – we are instructed that “how we do verse 5 is via verses 6 and 7”. Parents only delegate PART of their accountability for their children to schools, and are ultimately accountable to God.
