Educational choices for Christian parents
The proposals in the Schools Bill 2022 and the increasing secularisation of state education is causing many parents to ‘consider their options’ with regard to their children’s education.
The CViE Newsletter from June 2008 made the following observation: “Increasingly the state education system cannot be trusted to simply educate children in the three Rs and factual topics within subjects termed “humanities” and “science”. There is much evidence in the curriculum of state schools that philosophies, beliefs and practices, contrary to the Christian faith, are being introduced wherever they can.”
That article went on to recommend a CViE booklet titled “Educational Choices for Christian Parents”, based on a February 2006 Regional Meeting address to parents by Mr. D. Broome at Dudley Baptist Church.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD (Psalms 127:3) and the education of children is the prayerful responsibility of their parents, who bear an accountability for the choices made in the education of their children.
In the sixteen years since the talk was given at Dudley, who could have imagined the dangers children are now exposed to either digitally or in the national curriculum and RSHE? Perhaps, more solemnly, educational choice cannot be abdicated to others – do we know what and how our children are being taught?
CViE, as help is given, will write more on the Schools Bill 2022 and why many Christians and Christian organisations are concerned about what is being proposed and the consequences of these proposals.
