NEW PUBLICATION! ‘That Almighty Hand’

CViE has published an updated reprint of a talk given by the late Mr R Warboys (“The Hand of God in World War II”), titled ‘That Almighty Hand’.

This modern and attractive booklet has been revised by Daniel Sayers to include the wording of broadcasts made by King George VI during the Second World War, an additional appendix on General Sir William Dobbie (with permission from the Evangelical Press), together with a ‘further reading’ list from Christian sources.

We are encouraged in the Bible that ye may tell it to the generation following (Psalm 48:13) and trust that this booklet will be of help to Christian parents, teachers and others in talking with children about how the Lord appeared for this country in World War II and also to young people in illustrating the Mighty Hand of God in overruling world events. We also hope ‘That Almighty Hand’ will be of use to home educators and Christian schools in the teaching of modern history.

We have also added to the website a facsimile copy of a booklet “The Miracle of Britain’s Survival” that was written, from a Christian perspective, in 1943 by Hugh Evan Hopkins who was, at the time of writing, the vicar of Holy Trinity, Redhill, Surrey, England. The booklet is particularly interesting as it provides a contemporary, first-hand account of the first four years of hostilities during World War II. The booklet highlights the many instances when the ‘intervention of God’ could not be explained by circumstance or ‘chance’. Read it here.
