Report on the 2025 National Conference
   Christian Values in Education held its annual National Conference on Saturday, September 27, 2025 with the theme “Salt and Light”, focussing on the importance for Christians to be salt and light in education today. The event welcomed over 400 to Stopsley Baptist Church in Luton. The keynote speakers were Alun Ebenezer (Headteacher), John Denning (Christian Institute), and James Mildred (CARE).  After introductions from the CViE Chairman Dan Sayers, James Mildred from CARE opened the Conference with a talk on the positive challenge of ‘Being Salt and Light in a Secular World’, which is lived out as a bringer of truth to a needy culture.  An update on the ‘Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill’ currently progressing through Parliament was provided by John Denning from the Christian Institute. He highlighted both positive elements and areas of concern for Christians. .  The day was rounded off by Alun Ebenezer, a Headmaster in Monmouthshire, who answered ‘yes’ to the question: ‘Is There a Place for Christianity in Education?’ He enthused the Conference in reminding all of the sovereignty of God over education, as in all things. All the talks can be listened to here.  The CViE Conference was very much a family event, and there was a great sense of gratitude to God in seeing well over 150 young people of all ages attend. There were sessions for the children and young people, who learned about such matters as God’s providence in World War II, and the courage of the Ten Boom sisters, as well as partaking in recreational activities. This diverse menu was prepared with a view to addressing all educational choices, whether state schools, faith schools or home education.   CViE was also pleased to host Christian organisations to promote their work in supporting those involved or interested in the education of children. This included the Christian Institute, Answers in Genesis, Creation Ministries, the Christian Home Education Support Service, Day One, Christian Bookshop Ossett and Selden College. .   All the children present were able to obtain books with a free voucher, and the result was a day spent in learning and fellowship for all ages, all being helped in many different ways in being faithful Christians in education today.  We express our grateful thanks to the Trustees and the many volunteers for their support on the day. We praise the Lord and return thanks to Him for much answered prayer.
