Report on the 2026 National Conference of Christian Values in Education

Christian Values in Education, a Christian charity that seeks to equip and encourage believers involved in education – parents, students, teachers, staff, governors – held its annual National Conference on Saturday, September 26, 2026 with the theme “Confronting the Culture”, focussing on the importance for Christians to actively speak boldly into our culture with the Bible’s distinctive and very counter-cultural message.

The event welcomed a new record of over 450 to Stopsley Baptist Church in Luton.  The keynote speakers were Susan Marriott (Christian Medical Fellowship), Julie Maxwell (Lovewise), and James Taylor (Bethel Chapel, Guildford) (the talks can be viewed at www.cvie.org.uk).

After introductions from the CViE Chairman Dan Sayers, Susan Marriott, Head of Public Policy at the Christian Medical Fellowship, opened the Conference with a talk on a subject very much in the public conversation, titled ‘Defending the Sanctity of Life’.

On the delicate topic of ‘Sex and Relationships: A Better Narrative’, Julie Maxwell, Deputy Director of Lovewise, addressed the real impacts of negative cultural factors on the healthy maturation of children, offering a better way and introducing some of the helpful resources that Lovewise has produced to support parents, teachers, and children.

The final session of the day addressed ‘Truth in a Post‑Truth World’, with James Taylor, pastor of Bethel Chapel, Guildford, reminding Christians of our confidence in the unchanging truth of God’s Word in a society that has rejected absolute truth.  The world needs the truth, not ‘my truth’.

The CViE Conference was very much a family event, and there was a great sense of gratitude to God in seeing well over 200 young people of all ages attend.  There were sessions for the children, who learned about Biblical and historical people who have stood bravely against the culture, and for the older children, who were encouraged to take a stand in a world of ungodly mobile phone use and relationships.

CViE was also pleased to host a number of Christian organisations to promote their work in supporting those involved or interested in the education of children.  This included the Christian Institute, Lovewise, Evangelical Library, Truth in Science, PX Classrooms, as well as book sellers Day One, Christian Bookshop Ossett and the Wakeman Trust.

All of the children present were able to obtain books with a free voucher, and the result was a successful day of learning and fellowship for all ages, helping Christians to be faithful in education today.
