Please Respond – ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ Consultation

Dear Friends and Supporters of Christian Values in Education,

CViE is urging our supporters to respond to the ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ consultation, the Government’s draft guidance for schools regarding gender questioning children which was recently published. 

Draft guidance is offered by Christian Concern here (‘Act to protect schoolchildren from trans ideology’), and a response to this consultation should only require about 15 minutes.

Since the consultation covers multiple areas of safeguarding (it is also an annual consultation and review), you do not have to answer every question, but are asked to respond to questions 33-35 specifically. 

The closing date for responses is Tuesday 21 April and you can respond on the Department for Education website.

Christian Concern has previously indicated that, while the new draft guidance has some helpful clarifications, it remains that children as young as 4 could be socially transitioned to the opposite sex in UK schools, without any clinical advice being required, and on some occasions without parents being notified.  

The Christian Institute is also encouraging responding to the consultation, noting that this is still draft guidance, and responses to consultations by the public do make a difference.  Christians need to be aware that there will be many people trying to push the Government in the direction of their own agenda
