URGENT CALL TO RESPOND to Guidance on Gender Questioning Children
Christian Values in Education is issuing an urgent call to our supporters to respond to the government’s guidance on dealing with transgender issues in schools.
In December 2023, the Department for Education (DfE) published guidance for schools, ‘Gender Questioning Children’, in an attempt to address the current conflict on gender ideology. The government is inviting the views of the public on the guidance via a public consultation that closes next Tuesday 12 March 2024.
It is important that there be Christian input on the consultation, and we urge our supporters to make the time to respond to this important consultation.
It may appear a daunting task, however, CViE encourages our supporters to make use of ready-made tools from the Christian Institute and Christian Concern. At our latest CViE Online Meet-Up, Julie Maxwell of Lovewise pointed out that the Christian Institute tool is for those with more general comments, while the Christian Concern tool offers more help for in-depth responses. These tools can be accessed via the CViE website.

The introduction of the RSHE statutory guidance in 2019 opened the door to much dangerous and unhealthy content in schools, and this guidance offers some positive correctives. Sadly, much damage has already been done both physically and mentally to children and young people through the harmful effects of gender ideology, but it is to be hoped that the consultation process will reinforce those positive aspects of the draft guidance.
